5.0 star ratingAmazing hotel, best we have ever stayed in.A slight problem with the car parking.C and A29 May 2012
4.0 star ratingIt was wonderful to have a king size bed - it really makes a difference when both myself and my partner are 5ft 11" and 6ft 2"!! The shower was also wonderful. Really nice, flexible hotel and the empty fridge meant we could store our bottle of champagne that we bought for our anniversary. We couldn't get the information on the TV to work as the keyboard was dead and then remote didn't seem to operate the info system. We also couldn't find the ice for the ice bucket. 05 December 2012

4.5 star ratingon arrival our hotel booking could not be found on the computer, there appeared to be communication breakdown between the provider and hotel, The staff handled this very professionally and got us sorted immediately without any upset to our plans.yacht4029 January 2013
4.5 star ratingstaff very helpfullentertainment music only for the very young so if your over 25 dont bother with the bar in the evenings. As you provide tea, coffee etc items it would be better to have proper cups not carboard coffee things. need mirror in the room, at the table for us ladies.17 April 2013

3.0 star ratingBathroom: good. Shower: excellent. And complimentary water: very welcome. This hotel seems to have placed all of its effort into looking funky, modern and stylish, and lost sight of its main aim: to provide a comfortable night's sleep, a good breakfast, and to make the guests feel welcome and valued. :( Arrival from Prince Regent DLR station was confusing, as it brings you out on a higher level than the Reception Desk. Signage to the Reception Desk is missing, and left us floundering for an entrance for a bit. Upon locating Reception, of the two staff on duty, One was busy assisting a customer with a lost(!) booking (didn't bode well), and the other just completely ignored us! So we tried the auto check in computer system, which froze up, and was useless. So we waited. And waited.... We absorbed the acrid smell of chlorine presumably coming from the swimming pool which we couldn't see. And we waited...in the heat...(turn the air con on in Reception, please!) And waited... Eventually we got our room. The large front facing windows the car park immediately raised the issue of lack of privacy. In order to not be looked in at, it was necessary to close the blackout blinds, but then, having lost broad daylight outside, we were plunged into gloom by the inadequate bedroom lighting. Don't choose this hotel if you want room service - that is not on offer. Oh and the alarm clock was stuck at 6pm - despite the real time, and there was no (obvious) to correct it. Thank goodness my mobile phone had an alarm on it. It did contain a hairdryer. (It would have been nice if the website had confirmed that - save me dragging one with me in my luggage). The worst thing was the pillows. Thin, foam, pillows that squashed utterly flat when you put your head on them, you might as well sleep without a pillow for all the support they provided. I got bad neck ache. The second worst thing is breakfast, Advertised as "continental", I expected croissants, bread, cheese, meats, cereal, yoghurt and fruit. Basically, a reasonable savoury option, as well as sweet (which I don't eat). But I struggled to find anything suitable, and ended up with the only option on the menu: bagel and cream cheese. Additionally, the breakfast was confusing. You get a choice of any three items plus a hot drink, but some things (e.g. butter, jam, sauces, etc.) do not count as "items" - but that was not clear. And again, staff were slow to respond to their confused customers. I seriously suggest there is a training issue here! My husband doesn't drink hot drinks, and felt discriminated against as he had to use one of his "items" to pick a fruit juice. Lastly: check out. We tried to use the computer check out system, but that wanted to charge us £1 to check out!! Confused (as we hadn't bought anything for a pound, and the room was already paid for), we went to the desk to be told grudgingly that the £1 was a "suggested donation". WHAT?? A donation to what? Who? Why? It was just listed as a charge on the computer. The receptionist said she would remove it from our bill if we didn't want to pay it. Talk about hidden charges! Shame. The place is brilliantly located, and lovely in terms of décor. But they really need to review it through the eyes of their customers. SteepleChaser11 June 2013
3.5 star ratingExcellently located for ExCeL. Clean, modern room and very comfortable bed. Good aircon and free wi-fi. Iron and board in room. Staff friendly and helpful. No guest book information in room. Cardboard cups provided, not proper mugs. Lack of privacy with blackout blinds raised. Stingily, only permitted three small items hot drink for breakfast. Restaurant prices extortionate.11 June 2013
4.5 star ratingVery friendly staff, hotel room very clean and comfortable. Easy to check in and out. Impressed with quality of hotel.Fire alarm warning woke us up at 3.58am to very loud ringing noise, definitely disturbed nights sleep. Then woken up again at 6.30am by noise from room above.07 July 2013

4.0 star ratingGood position and hotel very clean.Breakfast disappointing, we paid an additional £20 to include the continental breakfast but were only allowed 3 items plus a drink which we were not aware of. So a croissant, small bowl of cereal and a slice of toast cost me £10!!! Emma30 July 2013
5.0 star ratingAt arrival at the hotel, they couldn't find our reservation. Was told hotelopia hasn't sent the reservation through to them. So I had no room. 4 hours later I got a call that they made a mistake and it was under my first name and not surname.. Lucky I had to go to a meeting for few hours but that's not the point. As I was so stressed out. So then they gave me a room. But had upgraded me to a suite, and extended my stay for few hours and sorting my parking out. Overall this hotel is very impressive, Raphael the manager and his team were brilliant and made sure I was compensated and looked after. Hotel is abit far from Stratford cost £15 my taxi. But 25 mins by DLR which is very close. The sauna, pool and steam room was amazing. Breakfast is abit let down as its grab n go style. But u can have full English breakfast in the fede restaurant for £12 per head!! They are professional and made our stay very pleasant. Will defo go back. Can't say anything negative except the checking in process what they did to me on that day. But they made up for it. Do highly recommend this hotel. Yasmin13 August 2013

5.0 star ratingVery colourful and swanky, ideal spot close to tube, beautifully decorated, polite pleasant staff and very lovely bed and shower facilities, definitely recommend ;)A cooked breakfast in an actual restaurant or breakfast room would be nice, bit other then that very pleased with our stay ;) 27 August 2013
5.0 star ratingExcellent customer service, beautiful hotel, extremely clean and in an amazing location. Will definitely go back to the Aloft for another stay. Unfortunately did not get to try the food but I am sure I will on my next stay ;) Shay03 September 2013
4.0 star ratingLooks and feels great. Very modern. Staff great. Very impressed with Hotel. The breakfast, if you can call it that, was very poor. Not the only people to complain about it either on here or trip adviser. Proper hot full English or eggs is a must. Quality of food very poor. Warm milk for cereal, nice!. Two days parking was £28. OK I know it's London etc but it's not central. Perhaps only charge when there is something on at the excell, that I could understand. saints7621 October 2013

5.0 star ratingVery modern and nice hotel. Professional and service-minded staff. A super conference hotel. A nice pool and a lot of space for relaxation.A bit too long trip to center of London. You have to understand the system of trains and underground very well. Anne22 November 2013
4.5 star rating-Friendly staff -Nice and clean room with air-condition -Nice looking hotel-Breakfast was really boring and a few a choose from -takes 45 minutes to the city centerRichard12 December 2013
4.0 star ratingWas a nice place to stay, not too bad to get into the city each day via the tube. Good value for the money you pay.chaff9109 December 2013

4.5 star ratingfantasic room, great facilities, great location, friendly staffSHOCKING to have to wait an hour queueing for breakfast!!! the way this was managed was beyond unacceptable I'm afraid. There were empty tables taking ages to be cleared with a queue way out the door. Then we had to queue again for ages for sausages, egg etc as they could not seem to cook them quickly enough. My 4 year old was VERY patient but for him to have to wait an hour was not good at all!!!! Such a shame as the hotel was great but the breakfast service really let it downAnonymous 08 April 2014
5.0 star ratingVery cool décor. The room was well designed, comfortable, clean and quiet. Reception and breakfast staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I only had a short stay in between shifts at work but I left thinking I would happily stay longer and also that I would use this hotel again as a first choice if I needed to stay in this part of London again. I got lost trying to find the main door (late night check-in) and then on way back to DLR station I missed the stairs to the overpass and walked oo far up a huge car park - clearer signage between the DLR station and the hotel would be useful.. Anonymous 21 May 2014
4.5 star ratingGood location at eastern end of Excel Arena, close to DLR station. Stylish design, excellent beds and quality fitments in bathroom. food at breakfast could have been hotterAnonymous 15 November 2014
