3.5 star ratingTo begin with the hotel/resort was superb - the room, facilities and resort were exactly what we had booked and expected. The hotel resort also had an impressive history which we weren't aware of when booking a room but were interested to learn more bout during our stay. Melissa, an Australian member of staff on the front desk, was excellent and helped us throughout our stay. A great ambassador for the hotel. A male worker recommended by the concierge, name unknown, also helped us with a car problem which was greatly appreciated.The last 2 days of our stay were spoiled by numerous family groups who knew each other taking over the resort and treating it as their own home. They brought dogs who wandered about freely, boomboxes to play their choice of music loudly, balls of every shape, nets, baseball bats, and cool boxes full of beers. They effectively turned the pool area into their own pool / yard / pitch without any consideration for other guests. The hotel also appeared to have little, or no, control over the number of guests allowed to stay in a room. We sacrificed half a day of our stay to secured a move to another area of the resort that was reasonably quiet but we lost our pool side room facility and had to find, and walk to, another pool within the resort thereafter. Thankfully we did find another pool which was OK, but not as good as the pool our original room was located beside. American members of staff on the front desk were less understanding over our concerns about how the nature of the resort changed from stylish sophisticated resort to national lamppon / animal house/ spring break style of resort as as they were more interested in the larger number of American visitors who booked 4 day stays for the Labor day holiday weekend. We would have expected this behavior in Las Vegas but not in La Quinta in the Palm Springs desert area. Would still consider going back but only during the week and well away from any national American holiday weekends. Anonymous 09 September 2015
